Answers to common questions about Recap.

How do I import my games?

Enter your Chess.com or Lichess username on the import screen. Recap pulls your recent games automatically using each platform's public API. No password required.

How does the analysis work?

Recap runs Stockfish 17 locally on your device to analyze every position in your games. This means your games never leave your phone. Analysis can take a few minutes depending on how many games you have.

Why are some of my games missing?

Recap imports your most recent games. Very old games or games played in certain variants may not be available through the Chess.com or Lichess APIs. Make sure your username is entered exactly as it appears on the platform.

How do I manage my subscription?

Go to your device's Settings > tap your name > Subscriptions. From there you can change or cancel your Recap Pro subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

How do I restore my purchase?

Tap "Restore Purchase" on the paywall screen. This will check your Apple ID for an existing Recap Pro subscription. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID you used for the original purchase.

The app is stuck on analysis

If analysis appears frozen, try closing and reopening the app. Stockfish runs as a background process and occasionally needs to restart. If the problem persists, reimport your games from the home screen settings.

Can I use the app offline?

Yes. After the initial game import, all puzzles and analysis are stored locally. You can solve puzzles without an internet connection.

How does spaced repetition work?

Mistakes you struggle with reappear more frequently. As you solve them correctly over time, they're scheduled further apart. This is based on the SM-2 algorithm, the same system used by flashcard apps for long-term retention.
