Acceptance

By downloading or using Recap ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

Description of Service

Recap is a chess training app that imports your games from Chess.com and Lichess, analyzes them using Stockfish on your device, and generates tactical puzzles from your mistakes.

Subscriptions

Recap offers an optional auto-renewing subscription ("Recap Pro") that unlocks full game analysis and unlimited puzzle access.

  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
  • The subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
  • Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the rate of the selected plan.
  • You can manage and cancel your subscription in your device's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.
  • Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

Current pricing: $7.99 per month. Prices may vary by region and are subject to change. Any price changes will take effect at the start of the next billing cycle.

Account

You provide your Chess.com or Lichess username to use the App. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to access the games associated with that username. The App only accesses publicly available game data through official APIs.

Intellectual Property

The App, its design, code, and content are owned by Recap Chess. Your game data remains yours. Stockfish is open-source software distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse-engineer or decompile the App (except as permitted by law)
  • Use the App to violate the terms of service of Chess.com or Lichess
  • Attempt to interfere with the App's operation or infrastructure

Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Chess analysis is performed by Stockfish and may not be perfectly accurate at all depths. We do not guarantee that the App will identify every mistake in your games.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Recap Chess shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time for violation of these terms. You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device and canceling any active subscription.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in accordance with applicable law.
